The Climbing Capital of Greece

Leonidio, Peloponnesus

At the foot of powerful red rock mountains along the Arcadian coast, lies the idyllic nautical town of Leonidio. This charming town attracts visitors all year around for it's neoclassic architecture, pristine beaches, world class rock climbing and organic delicious food. In the heat of the summer, the beach bars are full of Athenians who head south to their holiday homes. The winter season includes another peak of tourism for the active traveler who wants to indulge in climbing, hiking, and the simple luxuries of village life.

The cliffs of Leonidio offer more than 1,000 climbing routes across a wealth of grade. The crags surrounding the hillside are enjoyable and varied: tufa columns, smooth crimpy walls, caves with stalactites, grey balancy walls. The red rock above the town acts like a natural shield protecting from bad weather, resulting in an entire winter season of peak rock climbing.
